Paula Radcliffe lost a city marathon for the first time in her career this morning in New York as Ethiopian Derartu Tulu celebrated a fabulous triumph.
As Radcliffe slipped out of the first three with 23 miles gone, Tulu snatched victory with a punishing finish with less than a mile to go as she overtook Russian Ludmila Petrova.
France's Christelle Daunay was third with Radcliffe, who was holding her left leg as she finished, ending up in fourth.
Full race times and details of the men's race, where American Meb Keflezighi leads with two miles left, will follow.
